From Dev_Knight:

I had been working on my Dmitir deck since I saw Dmitir previewed online before the release of SE. I have been discussing the possibility of a Deverenian win with local players at length and trying to nail down a Dmitir deck that could do it. Recently, I had posted some of my results here on ToL and asked for advice from the online community as well. I had a fairly good idea of what I wanted to play by the time the event came around. Moments before the event started I was discussing Dmitir with Chris and Steve and they spoke highly of Lift Up Your Voices which I did not have in my build at the time. I took out two copies of Chosen which I felt were not performing as well as I would have liked and added the two copies of Lift Up Your Voices (which was MONUMENTAL in my games all day, thanks guys!) and this is the final version of the deck I played in the event.

1x Inquisitor Dmitir
1x Caleb the Shifter
1x Squire Fendric
3x Genecourt Initiate

3x The Beast Knight
3x Judge Aeacus
2x Cardinal Scelus
2x Ivaas
3x Mariah Blackthorn
2x Thibaud Rellion
2x Sir Magnus Arcadis
1x Lord Argen D’Ilchant
1x Lord Aurelius Rellion

3x Sudden Reversal
3x Sacrifice
2x Rapid Regeneration
2x Lift Up Your Voices
2x Withering Gaze

1x Hod’s Legacy
2x Lightning’s Iron
3x War Horse
3x Griffon of Misear
2x Wyvern Gem
2x Dragon Buckler

Swiss Round 1: Mike Shumate, Krenthor Gouge (Win 2-0)
Krenthor is one of the decks I know I have trouble with so I was not happy to see Krenthor in my first round. However, the Krenthor deck I usually play against is more of a cavalry support deck where this was a front rank Krenthor, so my chances were improved somewhat. This game was still very close however as Mike was on fire with his dice. He was smashing everything in his sight forcing me to simply stun up as much beef as I could just to survive. I didn’t have much opportunity to attack for several turns and things were looking bleak. In both games however a late turn drop of Aeacus with movement several turns into the game saved my game. Moving Aeacus to rank one at end of turn, then dealing four wounds on the first action of the next turn was the only way I made it through this round. This was a nail biter for certain!

Swiss Round 2: Chris Carr, Queen Yahia (Draw 0-0)
If I thought my first round pairing was bad, I was really not looking forward to my second round game. Chris is a local guy I play with all the time and I know him to be a very solid player. We rode down together, so he crashed at my place the night before since I was driving. We played a few games previous to leaving to get a little last minute tuning in, and he smashed me something like 0-8 with Dmitir just not having much chance at all aganist his Yahia deck. The addition of Lift Up Your Voices however was crucial for me in this pairing. We both made some minor play errors, but the dice were really the deciding factor in this round going to time as a draw. I always seemed to have just enough redirection, cancelation, and/or healing to get around his melee and ranged strikes. I was able to make most of the highly improbable DC saves from his actions, but yet I couldnt hit even mid-range AC characters. I didn’t dare use my ‘take ten’ ability as I was saving it for the DC 14 that would have had some really nasty swings swinging back into my own army, not good. Had I read Viper’s Whip a bit closer I may have drug a win out of this round, hard to say though… In the end, I was happy just to get the draw given the performance of my deck against his the night previous.

Swiss Round 3: Cliff Pace, Scyrax (Win 2-0)
This was a round I went into pretty confidently. Mark is a somewhat newer player to the game and when last we faced each other he was still learning the game. He has improved both his card pool and his play ability since then a great deal, but I was still able to get this round with minimal effort. My deck was better tuned than his and his inexperience showed in some of the decisions he made in our match. I am sure he will shape up to be a great opponent, but he just isn’t there yet. He is however one of the nicest opponents I faced all day and I eagerly look forward to meeting him in tournament play again.

Swiss Round 4: Mark Pace, Lady of Pain (Win 2-0)
This was a VERY tough match for me and I honestly feel looking back that it should have gone the other way. Mariah Blackthorne was MVP in our first game, along with Caleb the Shifter and his own Jigoral. In the first turn I pushed Fendric up and took out a Jigoral on my first action. He tried to take out Caleb with a shot from Jigoral but I forced a redirection, the only legal target was Lady of Pain and he managed to wound his own Warlord. I got Mariah up to the first rank with a Dragon Buckler at the end of turn one spent and she was ready to work on turn two. I managed to grab initiative and attack Lady of Pain using the ‘take ten’ to hit her, but he had a Too Fast to See making it a critical failure, then on my second attack I needed to roll well to end the game and I managed to shake the critical 15+ roll for the win. Game two I was very much on the ropes. At the end of turn three I had a stunned wounded Sir Magnus Arcadis in my front rank, a stunned Dmitir in my second rank with two wounds and a Judge Aeacus I had just played in my third rank, my opponent had only Lady of Pain in play, ready with one wound. He swung with Lady of Pain on Magnus, I reacted with Sudden Reversal to move Judge Aeacus forward, allowing Dmitir to stun to rank one, his first strike killed Magnus, he targets Dmitir with his second strike and I Sudden Reversal again, this time redirecting the strike. He inflicts one wound on Aeacus, then it is my action. I am in a long shot situation, a Zaiana’s Treachery is game over for me, and I have to shake a 17 and/or 19 to pull it off depending on his hand. I hit with my first strike and he has the Too Fast to See again, so it all comes down to the second strike, I shake a natural 20 and Lady of Pain takes another fall. This was my closest game of the entire day by a long shot.

Finals Round 1: Matt Wilson, Kerebrus (Win 2-0)
This game is a bit of a blur. I was so shocked that I managed to make the cut with a Deverenian deck that this entire match felt rather surreal. I do recall that game one was a meatgrinder of a game. I went through my entire deck with Kerebrus and the various Devs hammering it out for what felt like forever. Between his high AC, my control elements, and the healing we both had, neither of us seemed to be making any measurable headway. Finally at some point I managed to get a Judge Aeacus with a Wyvern Gem in the front rank and changed his alignment to evil before taking the long shot odds at Kerebrus for the win. I swung twice dropping a charge from Wyvern Gem both times hoping to get lucky. I only hit on a 20 but it was my last chance with my resources quickly runnning out. My opponent had TWO Divine Barrier in hand and I had nothig left to save myself. He rolled a one on the first Divine Barrier, and not an odd roll for the extra wound on his second Divine Barrier, so I was free to make my attacks. I missed my first attack, but my second swing managed to put all three wounds on him for the game. In the second game it was not so close or so long. I would say it was turn two or three that I had a Mariah in rank two with a Dragon Buckler and War Horse equipped. My opponent had Kerebrus with Scale Mail and Bruntor’s Helm on. I was in a two by two formation with a Sudden Reversal in hand. I spent the War Horse on Mariah for the attack bonus and my opponent must have thought I was going to trade steeds because he attempted to collapse my ranks. I let one wound go through, then Sudden Reversed the second attack, not using the redirect. I swung on Kerebrus at +12 made the roll a 10 to hit for two wounds and broke the Mail and Helm, then managed to roll the 12+ on the next attack for the game.

Finals Round 2: PJ Torres, Morghen the Unliving (Loss 0-2)
This is where Dmitir’s wild ride came to a crashing halt. PJ is another local player than I play at least weekly. He and I have discussed strategy with one another for these decks at length. There were no secrets between us what each others decks contained, and we know the playstyle of one another quite well. We both went into the round feeling like whatever happened, it was a win for the both of us. As it turned out, he was to be the winner of the match. PJ and I have played these decks against one another several times. Generally, his deck beats me quite soundly, but I was hoping the addition of the Lift Up Your Voices might give me the slight edge I needed to put up a good fight.

Game one started out quite well for me. I was hitting nicely with my starting characters putting him on an early defensive game and taking away his ability to pass off the Essence on turn one. My turn one draw was not spectacular as I drew into two Cardinal Scelus with no way to get rid of the extra. Still, I ended turn one with a Mariah Blackthorn in the front with a Dragon Buckler on in good position to make the most of turn two. Turn two I had a decent draw which I thought could win me the game depending on his hand. I won initiative and attacked with Mariah expecting a Blink or Power Word: Kill. He had nothing and ended up with two wounds from the first strike, but I missed strike #2. He played a Lightning Bolt targeting Dmitir and I answered with a Rapid Regeneration from Scelus. I opted not to remove the wound I had on me as I had a Hod’s Legacy in hand and I didnt want PJ to have the ability to Disentigrate my item. On my action I attached Lightning’s Iron to Ivaas. PJ answered by playing Incinerate on Dmitir, I healed the wound from Lightning’s Iron. PJ played a second Incinerate on Dmitir on his action and I had no heal for it so I took the wound. On my action I attempted to use Medicine from the Rapid Regeneration to remove one of the two wounds on Dmitir, but rolled a crit failure on the check when I needed a 4 to make it. PJ answered by playing the third Incinerate of the turn, killing Dmitir. Drawing the Lightning Bolt and all three Incinerate was huge on his part, but his deck is full of non-spend order aggression, so if it wasn’t the Incinerate, it would have been something else. Missing Medicine was huge as he had no other means of killing Dmitir or protecting himself from the Mariah Blackthorn with Dragon Buckler which was about to ready and go to work (his 5th card was an Artheon) but in the end, I made it this far on great dice rolls at opprotune times, and it was not likely to last forever.

Game two started out poorly for me as well, I lost initiative and drew a weak hand with Aeacus, Lift Up Your Voices, War Horse, and two Griffons. I made the best of it by playing Lift first to stabilize and hope for a better turn two draw. I did my best to take out some of his starters but ultimately did little damage to him, though I did get Aeacus into the front rank using the steeds so I could hope to do some damage on turn two. Unfortunately, Severed of Bone had other ideas when he came in and stunned Aeacus at end of turn 1. Turn two I once again lost initiative and drew into no characters. My hand was two Lift Up Your Voice, a Dragon Buckler, a Lightning’s Iron, and Sudden Reversal. I played Lift again and spent the turn equipping Lightning’s Iron then hoping PJ didn’t hurt me too much. He killed a couple characters, but nothing too bad. I kept the Lift and pitched the rest of the hand. Turn three I finally drew into characters, four level fours. I won initiative and saw little help in my next hand which put the pressure on for this turn. I played the third Lift in three turns, then proceeded to stun up all the level fours I drew in an effort to hold ranks. Unfortunately, he drew into two Venom Vines and managed to kill one of my characters which put all my characters at a net +1 ac and he returned four level ones as well including two Jigoral and two Rotale Dythanus. In the end the Elven Hoarde was able to overrun me through the Lift and left me in a real bad spot for turn four with only a wounded Judge Aeacus, a Magnus Arcadis (both spent), and a two times wounded Dmitir (I got hit by a few ranged strikes from the elven start in the first three turns). When it was down to the last wound between Dmitir and the front rank, I played a sacrifice to Dmitir ending the game rather than allow myself to stun into rank one.

Conclusion:
When all was said and done, I was proud for what I had done. I put a lot of time and thought into my deck and tested it exhaustively, and I feel as though that showed through in my placement. PJ caught some lucky breaks against me in our match, and my luck was not so great with the draws I pulled, but that is the name of the game. Ultimately I don’t credit my loss to luck, good or bad, his deck was just better than mine and although I have put a lot of time and effort into my deck, I know for certain he has put more time and effort into his. I feel as though everything worked out exactly how it should have and I congratulate PJ on a well played game with a well tuned deck. I surprised myself with this deck, I did much better than I thought I would, and I was ultimately glad I didn’t jump ship in the last moment and play another faction as I had considered doing the week before. I had a great time, I saw some friends I get to see all too rarely, and came back with a story to tell. In my opinion, it doesn’t get much better than that!

From voxanadu:

I honestly threw my Dmitir deck together on the fly, mainly due to the fact the deck I was intending on running just wasn’t up to par. After tweaking it a bit via arcanist, building it the night before, and then testing it with the local players of Portland, I decided to run my Dmitir deck in an unusual direction. Unfortunately, I’ve a bad time remembering last names, so please forgive me on my forgetfulness.

Swiss Round 1: Ryan, Logan Win (2-0)
I admit, I was rather nervous about this match. I hadn’t faced any range strikers in testing, and yet, I somehow made it out alive. I found thrust, Arrigan and outmatched to be perfect in the first round. However, in the second round Lord Miracus led me to victory with a spear, and even though my opponent had the advantage of striking at Dmitir while he hung in the second rank, I seemed to have either a heal, or enough speed to prevent his victory.

Swiss Round 2: Shawn, Scyrax Win (2-0)

Shawn is a newer player to the game, and he has just begun to play. He took his first round with ease, however, the two games we played, and I wasn’t able to compare the two deck strategies much… 2 Outmatch’s took him in our first round and in our second round, he just didn’t seem to have any luck on the die, the thrust and outmatch I managed to play on him didn’t help matters either.

Swiss Round 3: Mike, Scyrax Tie (0-0)
This was my first time going up against mike, and I was impressed, for an entire 45 minutes we played it out. With all the speed I mustered he was able to produce high enough level noth’s with enough wound’s that no matter how many times I hit I was unable to chew threw them to get at Scyrax. Playing it out with him revealed this decks weakness against decks of this type. Either I need second rank control out of what I was running, more multi wounding, or really lucky die rolls. After the buzzer ran out, and we reported our tie, I was finnally able to defeat Scyrax. However, he was able to stall me out long enough in the end it didn’t matter.

Swiss Round 4: Matt, Kerebrus Loss (0-2)
Kerebrus was just faster and stronger. I hadn’t much chance of even hitting his AC with anything I was running. Some Atk boost’s would have helped or even AC boosts.

However, unlike me he was running a highlander deck and he made it into the 2nd place out of 14 players. Second place is no small accomplishement and to get it with a highlander deck is truly something. So good sir, I tip my hat to you for you have shown us all that the devs are still there and that they are still strong. Best of luck in your future games, keep up the great work.

Here is the report on the progress of his matches and his decklist:

Report:

By: Tobias Clark

Woo hoo! Still riding a high from yesterdays fun and successful event. As somebody who likes reading other peoples tournament reports I took notes throughout the games to help me remember all the juicy details.

Rnd 1
I got to start things off right sitting down across from Brian (LordoWar) who came up from Texas with the rest of his crew. He was playing Lady of Pain. After shaking hands we started the bloodshed which was our first game. My dice were red hot the first game and hit his Amatria’s then helped Brymin chew through his Kinnel’s as well. Brymin drew a camel and Cardinal Scelus to get her to the front. After Killing the last rank holder I got a Bear’s Soul which enabled me to get a 3rd and final wound on the Lady of Pain for a turn 1 victory.
Game 2 wasn’t quite as blitzy for me but Brymin did get a Rellion Truebred which enabled me to take out the Lady a second time on turn 2 with a lucky high dice roll against the Lady of Pain on my 2nd strike after inflicting a double wounder with my first.
Me a happy 2-0 rnd 1 weiner.

Rnd 2
This time I got to play against Vicky (DameDrache) an OKC local who was also playing the Lady of Pain. My luck started fading with a lot more even back and forth with the bloodletting on both sides of the battlefield. Validan was my allstar for our first game leading the way to victory with a killing blow against the Lady in the 3rd turn. Our 2nd game proved equally lengthy though I was in a superior board position throughout. I drew my Wish on the 3rd turn and didn’t need it but I ripped it to search for something anyway just because I could and that’s how I roll. Aurelius proved to be the bread winner for me bringing Brymin the Lady’s head after killing her with a nat 20. Vicky was very gracious and congratulatory and we spent the rest of the rnd scoping out our competition and hoping she would still have a good shot at the top despite her loss. Sucks having to eliminate a fellow local player but alas there can be only one.
Me a still euforious weiner with another 2-0

Rnd 3
I had the pleasure of shaking hands with Gene (GeneK) who was able to make it down from Kansas. Gene was playing one of the match ups I’d been dreading. Krenthor Gouge. My luck for the day completely abandoned me our first game. I lost on the first action when Krenthor Power attacked for a very gruesome end to Brymin. Our 2nd game went a little better with me drawing a DragonBuckler for Brymin. I won the ALL important initiative roll on the 2nd turn for a win with my 2nd strike against Krenthor. Game 3 was just as bloody and quick as our first 2 games with another game determined by the winner of initiative. Turn 2 I lucked out again and was able to kill Krenthor thanks to the power of Wyvern’s Gem. Gene and I then talked about how the Kansas warlord scene is going and the perils of working with a Dial-up connection.
Me a very nervous and still incredulous 2-1 weiner.

Rnd 4
I was paired up with Paul (Nihilistikism) another of the Texans who was playing Sigurdur. After a truly epic game that went on for almost the full 45 minutes Paul finally landed the kill shot on Brymin after Grimur reacted to my wounding Helt Royalwarden. Jeremiah came up right after the my loss of our first and of course only game to announce that time had been called. I congratulated Paul on his well desereved and hard earned victory and loudly cursed myself for making such a stupid move as wounding Helt when Grimur was there on the table clearly waiting for me. Oh well the shoe had to drop sometime right? Was still easily the most fun game of Warlord I played all day.
Me a bittersweet feeling 0-1 loser.

Jeremiah then took a brief break to get the standings and then announced the top 4. I recieved what I considered a well deserved Top Dev medal despite the fact that I had no competition for the honors. I had made top 2 in standings out of 14 with a Highlander deck people! Next came the playoffs.

Rnd 5
I got to face my 3rd Texan of the day Jeremy (Hedge) who as I was expecting was playing Set’ rokh. Jeremy and I exchanged some furious bloodshed our first game with Set’ rokh having to play the same game Brymin has been playing all day and coming up to the front to do the dirty work herself. I was able to work in a final 3rd wound on Set’ rokh after using Once Again to return a Thrust to my hand. Our 2nd game proceeded to play out over the rest of the 45 minutes we had to play. Time restraints required that we didn’t get to finish our 2nd game to ensure we could get started on the following Anceints tournament. So I spueaked into the top again despite what was looking like would be a loss for me in our 2nd game.
A guilty feeling 1-0 winner.

6th and final Rnd.
I played against Paul and his undefeated Sigurdur again to determine who would win it all and who would come in second best. Neither of the 2 games we played had any of the magic of the back and forth exchange we had in our Rnd 4 game. I might have had some chances during our 2nd game but I don’t think I was ever in a strong position during either game. The multiwounding on his end and the cold dice and lack of multiwounding on my end resulted in Paul proving the victor. Congratulations Paul! May your hero be mighty and fun to play!
A still proud but saddened 0-2 loser but overall 2nd placer. Go Brymin! ::High Fives his very successful Warlord::

There is a tourney comping up in Nov on the 8th, I will hopefully be attending, I’ll try to post a coverage of the tourney from my perspective (the games I played against people and the challenges that I tried to take on)…

Well the tourney on the 8th was quite interesting. I was running Brymin and my challenges all happened to be the very things that she hates.

My first challenge was a blitz Krenthor which tore down my ranks before I could say WTF? There was little I could do and that combined with really shitty die rolls ended both games in his favor. That demoralized me quite a bit because when I saw him reveal Krenthor I laughed and thought to myself “Hahaha, what a pushover for the first match!” However, this was not so. I had to hastily optimize Brymin before the tourney and I haven’t properly thought it through and ended up leaving out a lot of cards that would have saved my hide. Those same cards were excellently utilized by Krenthor to decimate my ranks and kill my warlord. Great Cleave and Outmatched were essential to what he did.

My second challenge was against none other than Brymin. This wasn’t exactly a mirror match as the other Brymin was built radically different from mine. The player focused on initiative control, building up his forces and buffing Brymin. He stunned her to the front turn one and started buffing with Sister Migaria which made me stop for a second and consider what the hell he intended to do. However, as both decks were focused on building up the warlord I outdid him in that regard because he lacked the redirection to keep vital targets alive. The second match I don’t remember as clearly but it was either won by me or it went to time as I won that round (the last victory during the tourney…).

My third challenge was from my most hated faction and in the format of my most hated class for that faction, f’ing Elf rogues. Lady of Pain has a truly appropriate name because she is the biggest pain in the ass that I’ve faced in 4E. The matches were horrid, for me at least, the runner was probably most entertained. It didn’t help much, as I later found out, that this specific individual has been playing Elf rogues from when he started to play and plays Elves exclusively. All the matches basically came down to her ravaging my stats and even when I could swing at her she would cancel it and swing back at me for even more wounds than my strike intended. I won one match because the runner misplayed one crucial action. That pissed him off and he finished me in less than 10 minutes which was all that remained to when this would be a draw. That pissed me off to no end and the rest of my games I pretty much didn’t care for as I wasn’t going to make the cut into the top 8 anyway.

My fourth game was against a Yavlo and that didn’t fare much better than the Elves, in fact in some ways it was worse. The first game ended when I tossed it after a DC 19 wiped out my entire front lineup (I think it was probably 5 or more characters) and left me with 3 spent characters against a decent lineup that my opponent amassed up to that point. The second game only got worse when I missed at least 10 die rolls against AC 11s over a period of two turns and got chain lightninged to death. After these two losses there was no point in playing except for shits and giggles.

My last match was supposed to be against another Krenthor and one of my friends wanted to play Brymin after dropping out of the tourney, having suffered enough losses as not to make the cut into the top 8. I let him run the deck and from what he told me of the experience, it was a really close call, but he lost.

My general overview of the tourney was that quick blitzy decks were favored by most or at least 3 out of 5 people I faced. Most of the people I faced were vets and that left me at a disadvantage due to lack of experience and practice. However, I look forward to other tourneys and hope I’ll be able to make a deck that will be able to make it to the top.

Now on to the challenges:

First I faced Draxon Rhull with an EE Iam Unsullied deck. The runner (McGee) killed one Jiyacin Fret and I was able to get a steed with Call Verdatha for Iam. He moved up with Jiyacin’s order and then when Arugs Gwak used his order on the opponent’s field I was able to move forward again (having equipped a Kigyo Tanar’s Prey). After that I positioned two Dreigas next to Iam and began pounding away at the opposing front line. I was able to take out a lot of the low lvl characters and then the first dragon that started in play stunned forward. Then I got myself some throggy daggers and went dragon slaying. After a few close calls and several dragons in the discard pile I thought the game was going in my favor. One turn from the end of the game there were two spent dragons in play and one ready in the second rank. By this time I managed to drop a Brother D on the field so most of the attacks even for my lvl 1s were stupid. I won initiative and Iam went to do what he does best, SMASH THINGS IN THE FACE! I had to expend most of my attacks to take out the two dragons that were in the front and then drop down the third. Then my lvl ones made short work of it, and that is when Draxon stunned forth. I think one or two of my remaining characters managed to wound him. The next turn it was game after I won initiative and that is the tale of my first DL victory. This deck was used by three of four people out of my group and it took down two Draxons out of those three times. Good times indeed.

I didn’t get to challenge a single Medusan Lord because we ran out of time and although it was kind of disappointing there was plenty to make up for it.

My thanks go out to McGee for holding this great tourney, great job indeed.

Well everyone, thanks for reading and expect more reviews on tourneys to come.

The pictures from the Winter Campaign 2009 – New Jersey have been uploaded to the Visual Tournament Record.

Here is my take on the tourney:

The NJ tourney was quite interesting, full of both sad and happy events.

My opponents were fairly diverse, I faced the mercs, dwarves, freeks and nothrog. My first match was against the runner of one of the four Queen Yahia that were present. First game the runner managed to drop a Blackwind onto the field early in the game. I managed to destroy her ranks but that dragon was quite a paint to take care of. I threw everything at it, including a bunch of low swings and shots from Incinerate. It seemed like I wouldn’t be able to remove this annoyance from the field but I managed to put three wounds on it. Amusingly enough the dragon chocked on a DC check from an Ivory Scepter but that didn’t end the game. I got hit by some shots from Icy Surge that the dragon managed to cast before I took care of it and after it was gone I proceeded to wipe out the Queen’s ranks. She was spent in the front with several wounds on her after I cast a Lightning Bolt and it came down to initiative. I lost and got hit with a full force of an Icy surge, with no protection I died while holding another Lightning Bolt and an Incinerate in my hand. The second match was more to my advantage but as I was getting close to winning the time was called and I lost that round.

My second round was against a Set’rohk who was built in an unordinary way by the runner and focused on low lvl blitz over heavy fighters and the use of tactics. The first game went in my favor thanks to a combination of good rolls and draws. However, the second game I was crushed as I drew a hand full of items and few spells to help me out. So this round resulted in a draw.

Then I ended up facing Niobe and that was quite interesting. To tell the truth it really was not, the runner just dropped a bunch of high lvl creatures both games and meatwalled me until he gained board control and slaughtered me with the ridiculous boost that he got from the freeks. My dice abandoned me more than on one occasion during these two games so that had a hand in it too. The games were not really fun or exciting, a one sided match with no room for winning.

My third match was against another Queen Yahia which was run by a less experienced player. Although she was less experienced, the runner still played several really good games against me, taking full advantage of the annoying ability the Queen had. The first match was won by me and the second I lost due to poor rolls for the DC checks the Queen did on my characters and ridiculously good rolls against my own characters. The last game was quite funny. As I wiped out the opposing ranks I faced the Queen with two wounds on her but I ran out of resources to do the last swing. All I had was a Ghed Nuri in my hand whom I played regularly and swung with him, surprisingly (well not really since it was against 14 AC but funny none the less) he hit the warlord for game.

Then I faced a Sigurdur in my last round and had a boatload of problems as it is to be expected from the dwarves. The first game I played was nearly won until I had a Kor’s Patience hit my warlord several times preventing me from winning the game. The second game went approximately the same, a Kor’s Patience and my warlord is down for the count with a handful of devastating spells. A cheap trick to say the least but its effective.

Then the awards were handed out and this is where the sad part comes in. I was the only dev to enter the tourney so my place as the top dev was secured but it was just messed up that no one else had played devs in an attempt to gain them a champion (one which they sorely need). So it was to the laughter of the ones who were there that I received my award, I placed 14 overall which is not bad considering against what I was competing. Also although no one wanted to play the devs, every single dev starter was gone as soon as people got their hands on it (ironic but what can I do).

That completes my experience of the tourney, sorry for the blurriness of the details, its difficult to remember everything after the event. Still I got a bunch of fun and laughs out of it and that’s what counts

Well, see you later, so stay tuned folks.

- You may have noticed the randomly generated related posts thing that pops up when you look at my posts. This function is there to allow you to see things that may be related to what I just posted and is there simply to increase the exchange of information between blogs. My question for you is whether you want them there or not, so please voice your opinion in the poll I’ve provided for you.

The poll has been up for a sufficient amount of time and only ONE person decided to contribute their opinion. It was against the randomly generated posts related (not often so) to my posts so I have disabled that function.

Thank you for your attention.

Thank you for your patience, the update is almost complete. There have been several major changes to the Empire of the Black Sun.

- The format for the website has been changed to one which is geared towards handling of a lot of information over time without unnecessary increase in the space taken up on the sidebar. The categories into which the many parts of the website fit have also been more rigidly defined to allow you to more easily find what you are looking for.

- The first part of my project to transfer the fiction of Warlord from the Temple of Lore to my website has been completed. I am trying to create a more user friendly and orderly arrangement of the short stories which make up the world of Warlord. It is also here as a comprehensive guide to Warlord fiction for new players who are entering the game and wish to become more familiar with the lore without having to go dig on the Temple. Lastly, I hope this will serve as a backup in case anything should happen to the temple which may result in the temporary or permanent loss of data.

- The spoilers now have their own page where they will be moved after being presented on the homepage.

- The Dev spoilers have been brought up to date for Shattered Empires.

- If all goes right I should also update my banner.

That’s all for now. Enjoy the new Empire of the Black Sun everyone

Back to Spoilers

And now to kick off the spoilers! They will be uploaded every day for the next 3 days so tune in to find out who’s joined the ranks of the empire My thanks goes out Arven for providing these.

Looks like Yavlo is getting more support than just Bataar and he seems to be popular with the ladies.

Quite an excellent support character for Yavlo, berings back memories of Dame Olivia…

Up next is what a lot of Dev players have been waiting for, a stormwraith character…

Here is the support for Dmitir that some people were concerned about, its also a fairly solid level 3 fighter and an uncommon as well.

And now here is the 3rd and final dev.

Both cavalry and paladin support FTW.

This should give dev cavalry a nice boost in addition to the cardinal.

And onward to more spoilers

Here is a character I think should have been a lvl one and our new D’Ilchant Keeper but in its current condition I feel it won’t see that much play.

And he is once again more support for Yavlo ^.^ .

Now for some discard pile hate tech from the olden days…
